TO-DAY’& BUSINESS.
LIGHT CIVIL LIST.
Out of a lengthy list of civil claims set down for hearing at the Hawera court before Air. J, S. Barton, S.M., this morning, only two, other than judgments made by consent or on written applications, reached finality, a big proportion being adjourned. Judgment for plaintiff by default, for £4 17® 9d and costs, was given on a claim preferred by Newton King Ltd. against W. H. Ransom. In judgment summons proceedings J. Pullen, who did not appear, was ordered to pay £lO Os 6d forthwith to L. Bell, and £1 Is solicitor’s fees, in default twelve days’ imprisonment. Two other judgment debtors appeared and were examined, and in each instance action was adjourned to give defendants an opportunity of furnishing further details as to moneys received and expended since the time of the original judgment.
