SUBSIDY FROM HEAVY TRAFFIC FEES. The Taranaki County Council agreed at its monthly meeting on Monday to approve of the proposal to give a portion of heavy traffic fees towards -the cost of the South Road (Hawera) subway. The secretary of the Taranaki Local Bodies’ Association forwarded the following resolution dealing with the elimination of level railway crossings passed at the association’s last meeting:— "That each local authority supply the association, os early as possible, with a return of heavy traffic fees received or receivable for the year ending March 31, and that the secretary then notify each local authority of the amount to be remitted to the Hawera County Council towards the cost of the- South Road subway. The -.total amount of subsidy to this work is assesesd at £225. ’ ’ —The council agreed to send in the returns required.
