Worthingston Evans, in a memorandum accompanying the army estimates, says: Considerable ..advance has taken place in the provision of armoured fighting vehicles. It has been decided to increase the number of medium and light tanks as funds permit, and supply armoured cars to certain cavalry units. The mechanisation of field artillery is proceeding, and experiments are being made 'with different kinds of tractors to determine which is most suitable for the purpose. Medium artillery will all be mechanised. Experiments are proceeding with artillery of lesser calibres for close support and anti,-;tank work. Experiments are also progresisng with a new guu for the Royal Horse Artillery and a new field howitzer.
