MOTOR CYCLIST HURT. IBY TELKQIiAPH PIXESS ASSOCIATION.J HAMILTON, Feb. 28. As the result of a fall from a motor cycle, Matthew' Darby, aged 19, who.se parents reside at Auckland, was admitted to the AA'aikato Hospital last night suffering from severe injuries to the head and> also from concussion. The accident occurred about five o’clock near Rukuhia cheese factory. His condition is reported to be fair. FOUND HANGING FROM TREE. • MASTER-TON, Feb. 28. Jack Dent, aged about 46, a returned soldier and an- ex-naval man, who arrived in Masterton from A\ rellington a few 7 days ago seeking work, was found hanging this morning from a tree in the Solway showgrounds entrance avenue.
BUS AND TRAM COLLIDE. AVELLINGTON, Feb. 28. No passengers w;ere in a Railway Department bus which collided with a fcramcar on Thorndon Quay this morning. The windscreen in front of the bus was badly damaged and the woodwork on the left side torn away. The driver, Alfred G. Cottrell, suffered bruises. The bus engine w 7 as not working well and Cottrell had to use the choke, and while leaning over the mishap occurred.. v
INJURED BY A TRUCK. DUNEID’IN, Feb. 28. John McKinlay, a young man employed at the Milburn limeworks, suffered a fractured thigh and skull through being hit by a truck and was admitted to ■ the Milton Hospital. MILTON MOTOR FATALITY. DUNEDIN, Feb. 28. An inquest concerning the death of Messrs Armour, Biggins and AY i I kins, three prominent racing men who were killed in the Milton motor accident when returning from the Pn.panui meeting on February 1, was resumed yesterday, a net adjourned to take the evidence of J. H V. Martin, a Dunedin auctioneer, who is at present on the West Coast, and who w'as driving close to the car when it swerved and somersaulted.
The evidence of G. Hill, who was injured in the smash, showed 1 bat all the party were absolutely sober, which was confirmed by the police and medical evidence. Hill stated that Biggins was the most careful driver he ever sat behind.
FATAL ACCIDENT IN THE BUSH
TAUMARUNUI. Feb. 28
A .fatal accident occurred in the bush beyond Manunui yesterday afternoon, when AV. Aiding, a married man aged 37. a bushtnan employed as a crosscutter by Messrs Ellis and Burnand, went to fell a punga fern with which to construct a stage round a pine tree that had been scarfed. He cut the punga and was looking up to watch it as it fell. It struck a nearby tree, detaching a. branch, which fell and struck Aiding in the eye, penetrating his brain. Aiding was conveyed to the Taumarunui hospital, where he died at 10.3 Q last night.
