TARANAKI ATHLETES.
CHAMPIONSHIP CONTENDERS, TO-MORROAV’S GATHERING. A total of 230 entries have been received for the Taranaki Amateur Athletic Championships meeting, to he held at the Hawera showgrounds to-morrow (AA’ednesday) evening. Twenty-one entries have been received in the mile run. 18 in the three miles, while 17 and round about that number ai - e common entries for each event on the programme. The first Taranaki provincial championship meeting to be held, the gathering will include the pick of athletes between New Plymouth and P'atea, and exceptionally attractive performances may be looked for.
The lield events are to commence at 6.39 p.m., and the track events at 8 o’clock, 'though the three miles walk will be started at 7 p.m. in conjunction with the field events. Prices have been made as low as possible, and a big throng of spectators is expected.
