Borotra's agility oounter-Jralaneed Patterson’s position play. ‘He’ returned* Patterson’s service with ease at the net. Borotra was unbeatable. Mixed Doubles. —Hawkes and Miss Boyd beat Brugnon (France) and Miss Harper, 2 —6, 6—2, 6 —3. Hawkes played splendidly and was deadly at the net and in position play. He and Miss Boyd made a strong pair. Men’s Doubles. —Patterson and McInnes (Victoria) beat Borotra and Boussons (France), B—6,8 —6, B—6, 6 —4. A magnificent game saw Patterson at the top of his form. Victoria won the test against France by one game. This was the Frenchmen’s first defeat in Australia in a test match.
