SECOND VISITATION
LATE EDITION
N.S.W. TOWNS AGAIN FLOODED SETTLERS IMPRISONED. MORE RAIN IX RIVER IN A. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPYBIGHT Received 12.15 p.m to-day. SYDNEY, Feb. 23. Floods in the Bogan River caused great anxiety at Nyngan. News had been received of a great flood in the upper reaches, travelling at a speed of eight miles per hour. Unless the flood waters near Nyngan fail considerably, this drift, it is feared, will overwhelm the town. The weather is very muggy and further rain is expected. Station owners and small settlers on the banks of the Bogan fared badly, for in many eases the settlers are imprisoned in their homes, with their lands for miles covered with muddy water. The water pot ice are endeavouring to carry supplies of food to the marooned settlers, but owing to the strong current their progress is very slow. The river, which is usually ninety feet, now ranges in width from two to ten miles. Further heavy rain has occurred in the Riverina district, causing several washaways. Part of Junee is again under water, and some of the surrounding country is inundated to a depth of two feet. Ganmain also is experiencing a recurrence of the floods, which last week caused damage amounting to many thousands of pounds. A number of business places and residences were flooded.
Cools mo n and AYagga are also affected.
