WHALING
A SUCCESSFUL SEASON. SHIPS FROM THE ANTARCTIC. TANKS FILLED TO CAPACITY. HY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPY Hi— H'l Received 11.25 a.m. to-day. HOBART, Feb. 22. The Norwegian whaling steamer Neilsen T. Alonso and five chasers have returned after four months' in the Antarctic. The expedition was the most successful that has ever set out from Hobart. The mother ship lias 950!) tons of oil. representing 57,000 barrels. The C. A. Larsen, which was sighted in Ross Sea, is reported' to have 70,000 barrels, and the Sir James Ross- 76,000 barrels. Whales were very numerous, and hunting had to cease' several weeks earlier than it was anticipated, as the tanks were filled to capacity.
