SAWMILL DESTROYED.

A bush fire which started in the vicinity of the Raglan Sawmilling Co.’s mill at Hutiwai got out of control yesterday, and in spite of the desperate efforts of the employees destroyed the mill and a quantity of sawn timber. Two dwellings occupied by two of the partners in the concern, Mr W. Munro and Mr J. Russell, shared the fate of the mill. The mill is situated near the west coast, about 4 miles south of Raglan. It was only a small enterprise, worked by eight men, and the dwellings were not pretentious structures. The total damage was estimated at £7OO, including £2OO on the sawn timber.
