CROQUET.
DOMINION TOURNEY. Everything points.to a. great success for the Dominion croquet tourney, which opened at Palmerston North on Monday. Three clubs’ greens, Manawatu, Northern, and Takaro, are all in use, and are in excellent condition. The entries constitute a new record for the meeting. All the lawns are brown as the result of the drought, and play is very difficult. For this reason a time limit has been imposed. Handicap Doubles. —In the first round Mrs. Bull and Mrs. Bennett (Hawera) 19 beat Mrs. Henderson and Airs. Gardner 18; Mrs. Dowling and Airs. McKay (Hawera.) 15 beat Airs. Coutts and Mrs. Sehneaux 14.

Stratton and Miss Watkins (Hastings). 17; Sir F. AYemyss and Aliss Retallack (England) 26 v. Cblonel Savill and Aliss Hesketh (Auckland) 18; Mrs. Pitcaithly and Mrs. Acheson (Hastings) 26 v. Airs. Horn and lAl.r.s. Wailing Jones (Dunedin) 20. Secod round. —Murray and Airs. Tnfen (Christchurch) 26 v. Airs. AlcDowell and Mrs. Bock (Wellington) 19.
