INTEREST DECLINING.

EX-KAISKER’S BIRTHDAY. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT BERLIN, Jan. 28. Even less attention than ever was paid to the ex-Kaiser’s birthday yesterday. Only the most outspoken Monarchist papers alluded to the event. The Deutsche Tageszeitung paid a tnoute to “our righteous human aspnations,” while the Deutschezeitung reasserted its faith that the AYilhelm would return to the Fatherland. But nowhere was a sing.e word written or spoken suggesting a wish to see him once more seated on the throne. The ex-Crown Princess, her sons, and Princess Eitel, Fredrieh and Oscar attended a service at Potsdam, tlie preacher at which, by his selection of a text, certainly echoed the sentiments of Doom, for he chose the passage from the prophet Micah which reads : ‘O, My people, what have I done unto thee? And wherein have I wearied thee? Testify against me.” A meeting was held in the evening in ironical honour of Mr. Parker Gilbert, the supervisor of reparations under the Dawes scheme He was described as the real Emperor of Germany, “who rnl'es with a top hat anu scissors for coupons, whereas the exKaiser ruled with a crown and sceptre.” The meeting was organised under tlie auspices of the Fascist! group and was broken up alter the tumultuous scenes in which several persons were seriously injured.

The police arrested 15 Fascists, two of whose victims were sent to the hospital.
