Resentment was expressed at the Dominion (conference of professional musicians to-day against musical instructors brought to the Dominion entering into competition with private teaclrers. Several speakers urged that it was unfair that these instructors, receiving a salary from the State, should also accept positions as organists. choirmasters, conductors of musical societies, and such positions usually held by professional musicians in private practice. It was finally decided that representations be made to the Education Department that it was unfair for servants or the department to compete with professional musicians.
