His counsel objected to a trial by a judge on the grounds o* prejudice, alter which the judge held a recess court lor the purpose of deciding whether to continue the trial.
Hickman is on trial for alleged murder. About December 18 Marion Parker was kidnapped from school and later her mutilated body was handed over to her father on receipt of the ransom. As a result, on December 22 the sheriff arrested Edward Hickman, who repeatedly denied the murder. On December 25 he attempted to commit suicide and on the 26th he confessed to the murder. He later admitted the murder of Ivy Thomas, a chemist, of Pasacena.
