TEAPOT DOME RESERVE.
PAYMENT FOR LEASE
LONG DEFERRED. EVIDENCE. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COP VEIOHT WASHINGTON, Jan. 24. After silence for three years, Milton Everhart, son-in-law of A. B. Fall, admitted having transported to the latter .104,000 dollars, in cash and liberty bonds, given him by Sinclair for the lease of the Teapot Dome naval reserve in 1922. The explanation at that time was that Sinclair purchased a .third of the interest in Fall’s cattle ranches. Everhart to-day appeared as a witness before the Senate Committee, which is resuming its oil investigation. The navy made a move against the Royal Dutch Shell Company through its effort to prevent the Honolulu Consolidated Oil Company selling to the former products from the Elk Hills oil reserve, which is again under navy control. Mr Wilbur has been appointed to the Navy Board to draft recommendations for legislation to prevent all such sales of oil to foreign trades.
