According to returns issued by- the Commomveaitn Buie.au of the Census, tne number of full-blooded aborigines last year was 59,945, compared with 59,296 iu 1926, but m 1920 the number was 62,394. The figures relating to half-castes point to a steady increase in then number, averaging about 1000 yearly. The number last year was 15,468. About 10,000 full-blooded natives are in European employ, and there are upwards of 4000 naif-castes in Queensland. There is a marked tendency to gather aborigines into the Government mission stations. Only about 14 per cent lead nomadic lives.
