COMPETITIVE ELEMENT
INCENTIVE TO EFFICIENCY.
COMMUNICATION SERVICES. WIRELESS AND CABLES BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. Received 2.10 p.m. to-day. LONDON, Jan. 23. The maintenance of some element of wireless and, cable competition in the interests aline of the press and public is emphasised in the Empire Press Union’s memo, to the Wireless Conference. It further points out that in the absence of competition (the possibility ot which is now apparent) and of scientific research there "would be stagnation in commercial enterprise as shown by cable administrations before- wire]ass came in. It was essential in the interests of international understanding and co-operation that there must be quickest and cheapest press facilities with due regard to- the possibility of future reductions of press rates. The memo, finally quotes the Geneva Press Oonferenoo resolution advocating the maximum of competition.—A.P.A. and “Sun.”
