BOWLING

NEW PLYMOUTH TOURNEY. OPENING ROUNDS. Perfect weather conditions favoured the opening of the annual bowling tourney at New Plymouth yesterday morning. Greens —those used were ' West End. New Plymouth, Vogeltown and Fitzroy—were fast and true, and play throughout was good and matches well contested. No less than 66 rinks were engaged and were divided into three sections of 14 each and two of 12. The conditions laid down were that all rinks having as many wins as the lowest section, provided it ig not less than six, go into the post-section play. Thenceforward there will be three games of 21 heads each, played each day, and the full twolife system will be applied. The organising work of the secretary (Mr F. J. Hill) was excellent, and all went w r ith a finis swing the whole day. Two rounds were played yesterday, and the results were as below: — SECTION A. WEST END GREEN.
