CALEDONIAN SPORTS.

ELTHAM ON THURSDAY. Thursday will lie a red letter day for the people of Eltham, because oh that day the grand Caledonian sports will be ~iiid a Taumata Park, commencing at 11 o’clock and continuing all day. There will be scope for everyone to take part, seeing that in the programme are included events for: (1) Bagpipe music—pibroch, marches, strathsprey, and reel; (2) dancing for men, for ladies and for girls, flings, .sword dance, g and ’hornpipe; (3) athletics—loo, 220, 4-10, 880 .yards, one mile, high jump, putting the shot, throwing the hammer, two-mile walk; C 4) cycling:— half-mile, one. mile, two and three miles, and (5) wrestling—oateh-as-catch-can and Cumberland.

There are good prizes and trophies in. all events, the grand total reaching £l4O. Competition is certain to be keen, and this fact should draw a big crowd to the sports on Thursday. General arrangements are being made by energetic committees .under the general direction of the hon. secretary, Mr R. L. Garden.
