TOAVN BOARD MEETING
At the monthly meeting of the board held on Monday, there were present Commissioners O, J. Preston (chairman), A. Galloway and T. Lloyd. Apology for absence was received from Commissioner J. P. Leydon.
A letter was received from the Main Highway® Board stating that, after allowing for payments already made this year, there ’was still sufficient money available for authorisation to subsidise the work which the Town Board proposes to- carry out. . , It was decided to apply to have the Kctemarao- Road declared a. secondary main highway. The foreman was instructed to insta-l a silent policeman at the junction: of Stafford: Street and Mountain Road. It was considered that owing to the large amount of traffic at this point tlio board’s action would he appreciated by motorists, the corner being rather dangerous.
Accounts to the amount of £22 11s 7d were passed for payment. STATUTORY HALF-HOLIDAY.
A special meeting of the Town Board was held on Monday to- fix tho day of the week on which the half-holiday will he observed within the town district. A resolution, was passed that Wednesday be the half-holiday as previously. domain; board. The Domain Board' met on Monday and transacted the usual routine business. Owing to the dry weather the lessee of the park was. short of water for his stock so it was decided that a. new pnnip be procured and also l a concrete water trough. .It Was left with the chairman to arrange for the work.
