The Registrar of Friendly Societies reports that in the general strike year, the union s lost 300,000 members and the funds were reduced by £4,000,000 to £5,G50,000. The cost was 14/1 per members, while the benefits were 17/S.
The registrar criticised the lack of business methods resulting in heavy losses, duo to officials, defalcation. He said that in one instance the trustees’ neglect enabled an official to decamp with £3OOO. —‘‘Sydney Sun” cable.
