TO OUTLAW WAR.
AMERICAN PROPOSALS CRITICISED.
BY CABLE- PHESB ASSOCIATION— COPYRIGHT. LONDON, Jan. 3. Paris messages, indicate that opinion respecting the American proposals for a pact with France outlawing war is not yet crystalised, hut the newspapers are diameterically opposed. They point out that the reservations do not leave much for arbitration.
The “Daily Telegraph’s” diplomatic correspondent also calls attention to the narrow scope of the proposals, but adds: “It goes without saying that the suggestion for the conclusion of a similar treaty between Great Britain and the United States would be most sympathetically received here.”
