The following New Year Honours have been awarded to Australians:
K.C.M.G. —The Hon. Philip Street, Chief Justice of New South W ales. K.B.—John Longstaff, the noted artist; Mr, Henry Scott. Attorney General or Fiji. Other conferments' were :
K.C.M.G.—Sir Edward Grigg, Clover nor of Kenya. Barons. —The Rt-. Hon. George „A. Gibb, Conservative M.P. for West Bristol and Government whip; the Rt. Hon Sir Frederick Lugardo, formerly a Colonial Governor and now a British member of the Permanent- Mandates Commission.
Baronet. —Mr. James Comer Berry, newspaper proprietor. Knight.—Mr Edward German, the composer. K.C.V.O. —Sir G. Elgar, the composer. G.C.B. —General Sir Alexander Godley. SYDNEY, Jan. 2. The Federal Cabinet has restored to the States the right to make recommendations to the Home authorities in regard to granting titles to residents of the State. The Premier of New South Wales submitted several names which appear in the list of New Year Honours. NEW ZEALAND’S LIST. (nY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, Jan. 2. The Governor-General has announced that on the occasion of the New Year the King has been pleased ,to confer on those named the following honours : —• Knight Batchelor. —The Hon. Thomas Waiter Stringer, K.C., lately judge of the Supreme Coui’t of New Zealand. Companion of the most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.). —George Craig, Esq., L.L.M. Comptroller of Customs in New Zen.land; Albert Fuller Ellis, Eisq., New Zealand Commissioner on the British SPhosphatc Commission.
