KEEPING THE PEACE. ADMINISTRATOR WAITED ON. THE DEPORTATION ORDERS. t.BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, Dec. 31. A -wireless message received from the “Auckland Star’s” Apia correspondent to-day states that while the Hon. O. F. Nelson was seeking an interview with the Administrator to arrange an effective conference with Samoans as requested by the Administrator, the deportation orders were made. Nevertheless, Mr. Nelson complied with the Administrator’s request, and was successful in exacting a promise to keep the peace, hut the Samoan leaders have definitely declared that the Man organisation will continue till their grievances are redressed. Before the deportations were made, a deputation from the three leading mission societies and also including representative influential citizens, waited on the Administrator, urging conciliation to preserve the peace.
