ARMISTICE DAY BALL
CELEBRATION IN NEW YORK
NEW YORK, Nov. 12. Not- since it was initiated, seven years ago, was there such a brilliant assemblage at the Armistice Ball of the British Great War Veterans oi America as was present last- evening. Every rank of the British Army, from private to general, was represented, and the United States had a notable representation, including the State Governor, leaders of the Army and Navy, official and civic activities, and society. The trooping of the A hied colours at midnight was a wonderful sight for those who were privileged to witness The skirl of the bagpipes was a warning of the first formation of the, trooping ceremony, and the colour guard, composed of soldiers of all the Allied nations during the Great War, took part, headed by Sergeant-Major Child, formerly of the Royal Highlanders of Canada. Many Canadian regiments sent delegations, and there were units from the British Officers’ Clubs of Boston, Washington and Philadelphia. The proceeds of the ball went to the charitable work of the veterans, including care of the sick, disabled and needy ex-soldiers of the British Forces and for the dependents of those who die in this country.
