Lieutenant Moncrieff and Captain Eight’s aeroplane Aotearoa underwent a successful test flight at Point Cook to-day,-piloted by Captain Hood. _ The machine left the ground within a hundred yards of the starting point and, after remaining up some .time, effected an excellent landing. • Point Cook officials state that the fliers will probably start the flight to Sydney on Friday morning in preparation for the journey to New Zealand.

(By Telegraph—Special to ‘The Star.”) WELLINGTON, Dec. 29. Under arrangements made with the New Zealand Post- Office' officials, the flying men who intend to hop-off from Sydney in a flight across tlie Tasman a.t the week-end, will be in radio, contact with the Dominion continuously during the progress of the aerial journey. Advice of the departure will be cabled from Australia and immediately the New Zealand .radio stations will be on the qui vive to. pick up automatic signals sent out at regular intervals by means of a. special installation on the ’plane. Thus if a mishap should occur to the adventurous flying men, the -authorities will have immediate information of the time and locating, .so that vessels in the vicinity may be advised to afford assistance.
