MANAIA.
CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS. BUSINESS RECORDS ESTABLISHED (From Our Own Correspondent.) Christinas Eve celebrations at Ma-n-aia attracted a large assembly of town and district residents throughout both the afternoon and evening. To the juveniles the big event of the occasion was the presence of Father Christmas, and an enthusiastic gathering of about ,600 greeted the venerable visitor -when he arrived at the Octagon at 2.30 p.m. Toys of all description and sweets were distributed in generous profusion, and the kiddies enjoyed themselves immensely. Some of the business 'premises- were beautifully decorated during the evening, and attendants were kept -busy until the closing hour, the volume of business -being a record in the history of the town. The Manaia Municipal Brass Band played -a very appropriate Christmas programme, which was much -appreciated by the largo crowd. The various churches of Manaia held their special services on Christmas Day and were attended by largo congregations.
