ADRIFT ON OCEAN. CALCUTTA, Dec. 19. The story related by the crew of a schooner which, while on its way from Bombay to Cuteh, was caught dn last month’s cyclone, has just been published. The vessel became waterlogged and the crew of 15, having no boats, had to utilise two*water tanks, which were merely large canvas-lined boxes. Being near the coast, they anticipated a • needy rescue, and took insufficient provisions and water. Actually they drifted out into the middle of the Indian Ocean and their frantic efforts to .attract attention failed. One steamer, ablaze with lights, passed only 100 yards away. The strongest member of the crew swam and touched the liner, but in the darkness- he wa« not seen.
After 15 days the captain’s box was nicked up near PTsiia. Four of the night mien in it were dead. The other box, with seven of the crew, were newer found.
