WHAREROA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) On Tuesday evening the annual breaking-up ceremony of the local Sunday School took place in the hall, when there was a large number of scholars and parents present. Prettily decorated tables were laden with a bountiful tea, which the children greatly appreciated. For some time afterwards they engaged in games of all kinds. At eight o’clock the Rev. Mr Monaghan of Hawera. delivered an address, dwelling on the importance and need of Sunday School work, and at the same time eulogising the good teaching of Miss Death, who throughout the year had given inuch time and energy to the welfare of the children. A prize was then distributed to each child for attendance, good conduct and lessons. On behalf of the scholars Mr Monaghan had much pleasure in presenting to the 'Misses Death a nice gilt as a small token of appreciation and affeiction. Miss Health suitably replied and then called for three cheers for Mrs Benton, for having organised a concert to raise the necessary funds. The unloading of a well-laden Christmas tree was the aie-xt and final excitement of "th.© ©veiling for th© cnil-* dren.
