MANGAMINGI.
(From Our Own. Correspondent.) OBITUARY. Deep regret was felt by residents in the valley on Friday evening when the sad news came through of the death of Mrs B. Lumsden at New Plymouth, where the deceased lady had undergone a slight operation on Wednesday evening. The funeral took place at Eltham on Sunday, and a very large number of friends from all over Taranaki assembled at the graveside to pay their last respects to one who was a great favourite with all who knew her. She leaves a husband and two small daughters, to whom the deepest sympathy is extended. END OF SCHOOL YEAR,
The local school broke up on Friday for the Christmas holidays. The children were assembled in the hall and each received a present. Three boys in Std. VI. gained proficiency, while Harry Kirk gained the dux prize. Afternoon tea was handed round, and a large number of parents were present in spite of the. rough day. Three boys were each presented with an electric torch for having gained awards in the calfrearing competitions.
