RAILWAY EXCURSION.

WELLINGTON TO HAWERA. VISITORS TO MOUNT EGMONT. The success which has attended week-end railway excursions in both islands has led the Department .ten consider extending its activities in this connection to include" a week-end trip from Wellington to Mount Egmont. The decision has now been made to launch out -in this direction, and the dates decided upon are January 28 and 29. The special train will leave Wellington on Saturday, 28th, and the excursionists will spend that night in Hawera.. leaving early next day for Dawson Falls by motor. Several hours will be spent at the falls and other beauty spots within easy distance of the hostel, and this departure will he made on the return journey to Hawera, en rout© to Wellington, . during mid-afternoon, the travellers being due to reach Wellington about midnight. Mr J. Pringle, commercial representative of the department, has been jn Hawera finalising -arrangements, and he reports that Mr L. 0. Hookjer, who has been enthusiastic in taking up the organisation at this end, has made arrangements for any members of the Tarawera Tramping Club who may ’oin the excursion to (leave Hawera for the. mountain some hours in advance of the main body in order to criv-e them time to climb Fantham’s Peak. . .

The onus of entertaining the visitors on the Saturday evening is -brown uixm Hawera. and the department has expressed the hope that means will he found here of providing them with an interesting: evening.
