PERSONAL ITEMS.
The Rt. Hon. L. C. At. S. Amei-y and party arrived at Wellington from Nelson to-dav. He spends two days here before proceeding north, and has a full programme. He is being entertained at luncheon by the Wellington Chamber of Commerce. Manufacturers’ Association, and the Wellington Employers’ Association. the Rt, Hon. L. C. At. S. Amery was accorded a civic reception at Nelson, in the presence of a largo and enthusiastic gathering of citizens yesterday afternoon. The Mayor, Air. W. J. At off a tt, and Air. H. Atmore, Af.P., gave addresses of welcome. Later, Mr. Amery opened the biological control station at the Cawthron Institute of Scientific Research, inaugurated under the Empire ATarketing Board scheme. Mr. Amery then visited Nelson College to present the Riddiford Cup (awarded to the best secondary school cadet corps in New Zealand). He said their keenness in winning the cup again and again would he reflected in all their activities. In the evening AH. Amery was the guest at a complimentary dinner given by Air. H. RDuncan, chairman of the Cawthron Trust Board. ■ Air. Amery will leave for Wellington at 9 o’clock this evening.
