WHERE BRITAIN IS GROUNL LANDLORD. THEIR SURRENDER PROPOSED BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYBIGHT. Received 11.10 a.m. to-day. LONDON, Dec. 13. A Treasury White Paper states that it is proposed to surrender . the remaining leases of properties in treaty ports in China wherever Britain is the ground landlord, on the ground that occupancy of the position of ground landlord in a foreign country is anomalous and clearly _ incompatible with British policy in China. The estimated cost of the surrender is £400,000.—A.P.A. and “Sun.”
