Lord Stanhope regretted that he must oppose the Primate. He would not do so if he f'3% that the new hook would restore order and discipline in accordance with the recommendations of the 1906 commission. He felt that -the hi shows’ powers under the new ■regime would be most inadequate. The measure on glitz to be postponed till the <?'■ 'lpsiastical courts had been re-con-stituted and their powers increased. The delav need not be prolonged; ir the Church Assembly desired, this -i-atinn might he introduced in 1928. In order not to limit the scope c? the debate, he would not press Jus own amendment in favour of not proceeding further till the measure was V accompanied by provisions for ensuring order and discipline.—A.P.A- and "Sun.”
