BEING CRUSHED OUT OF EXISTENCE. SEVERE FOREIGN COMPETITION. BY CABLE—PBESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT Received 10.2-5 a.m. to-day. LONDON, Dec. 13. British beet sugar iactories are suffering to a lesser degree to the Dominions’ manufacturers,” declares Sir John Corcoran. ‘‘We are appealing to the Government to neutralise these handicaps.” He adds that 10,000 sugar workers have been thrown out of work at Greenock, owing to foreigners, supported by trusts, cartels, tarilf bounties, and cheap labour, dumping sugar cheaper than they are selling it in their own countries. British beet sugar factories are selling at 29s per cwt., of which the taxpayer pays 26s lOd. —“Sydney Sun” cable.
