SCHOOL CONCERT
JUNIOR MEMBERS T)F HIGH SCHOOL. 1 At the High School yesterday afternoon, in the engineering hall, the junior members of the school, comprising the ‘‘Good Luck” Club, gave- their first annual concert, the object being to raise funds to publish the magazine associated with that section of the school. A most varied and enjoyable programme! was presented l , including musical -and humorous items, as well as two -playlets containing topical school references. The following items were presented:—Opening chorus, “The Good Luck Club arp Happy,” and “In a Canoe, ’ ’ by members of the company ; character song, Master S- W. Horsburg; recitations, “Briggs’ Minus Memory,’’ and “Aunt Tabitha,” by Miss M. Bray; and “School Learning—- | Cram it in,” by Miss B. Walker; quartettes. ‘‘Hello Hawaii,” ‘‘Shepherd 1 of the Hills.” and “Dreamland Voices,” by Misses T. Laurent, S. Ryan, V. Sutton and B. Walker; character sketch. “Cooking,” G\lis.s T. Laurent; trio. “Red. White and Blue,” Misses E. Patchell, A. Westwood and E. Reid; “The Quarrel,” by Misses J. Laurenson. A. Appleyard and Master H. Wo-ollett; p’aylet-s. “The Secret Society,” bv Misses B. Walker, M. Hag-ae-tt and Master R. Ashton, and “The Advert iscment,” bv Mieses P. Ekdahl, 0. Gold-stone, J- Laurenson, G. Lendrum. V. Hutton .and D. Wa-renp. Lancing items were given by Misses Goldstone.. Y .Sutton, D. Warcup and G. Landrum.
At the- conclusion the headmaster, Mr A. Gray, voiced his keen appreciation of the performance, and moved .a. vote of thanks to the artists, Which wa-s heartily endorsed by the scholars and staff present.
