No time is being lost in pushing on with the scheme to establish a Church of England broadcasting station. The Government has granted the promoters a license to broadcast, and the wave-lengths of the station will be 231 metres and 35 metres. Steps are now being taken to raise the necessary money. It is expected that to put up a station of the same power as IYA would cost £BOOO, and the running c-osts would be between £4OOO and £SOOO a year. The proposal of the Anglican Broadcasting Association is to start with 5000 members at a subscription of not less than £1 each. A wonderful operation under an anaesthetic was performed in the presence of several farmers by Mr. H. Scally, a North Auckland veterinarian, an. says the “Northern Advocate.” The subject was a mare owned by Mr. Van Houtte, of Ruatangata. West. The animal had lost the sight of an eye as a result of a large tumorous growth covering the optic completely. When removed the growth weighed half a pound. Mr. Scally also removed a film from the pupil, and on examination the following morning it was found that the mare had completelv recovered her sight PERILS OF THE PLAYGROUND.
