CAUTION EXERCISED.
AT CHRTSTGHURCIH WOOL SALE
KEEN DEMAND FOR FINE CROSBRED. (BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) CHRIST CHURCH, Nov. 30. The first wool sale of the season in the South Island opened here this morning before a full bench of bui-crs. There was an atmosphere of caution at the start of the sale and in some respects the prices were not up to the standard expected. This was most particularly the case for the average class of halfbred wool. Fine crossbred met with very keen sale and fully maintained the rates for similar wool at the North Island sales. There w r as a good demand for all fellmongering lots and super wool of all classes was very keenly competed for. It was suggested that the uncertainty regarding the shipping situation rin Australia may have had some influence on the caution exercised. All buying points were represented, the Continent being more prominent in the early stages, but later local mills and Bradford secured tneir shares.
