CALF REARING
WORK IN THE SCHOOLS,
t BOYS’ AND GIRLS’ CLUBS,
The work of the Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs is showing a renewed interest this year, and all over the districtgood entries‘ are being received. This morning the itinerary included Mokoia- and Whareroa, and this- afternoon Tokaora and Normanby. The judges were Mr. A. T. Wills (rearing and; condition) and Mr. Hodge (type). MOKOIA. At Mokoia there were three calves suomitted, all nice little animals. The judges made the awards as below : Rearing.
Dairy type.—Jack Cooper 1, Jean Main 2, Ted Cooper 3. Two yearlings were shown, the awards being: Ted Cooper 1, Jack Cooper 2. Two-year-old.—There was one, Ted Cooper’s entry. Tne headmistress (Mrs. Smith) was present, and took a keen interest in the work. WHAREROA. There were also three judged at Whareroa, and, curiously enough, the children showing them were -all of one family, and they were not farmers’ children. The awards were: Rearing.
Type.—Betty Carswell 1, Alex Carswell 2, Henry Carswell 3. Miss McCormack, the teacher, has sliown much enthusiasm, and hopes to have many more next year, providing the parents will assist in the work.
