DIAMOND WEDDING.
ESTEEMED TARANAKI SETTLERS. Mr. and Mrs. G. Holland, of New Plymouth, who recently celebrated their diamond wedding, established what is perhaps a -record in that they are not only New Zealand born, but they were born in the same locolity—Lower Hutt, Wellington. Following their marriage, 6h years ago, they lived for about 26 years- in the Wai.na-rapa district and came to Taranaki in 1889, Mr. Hollard taking up bush land on the Manaaa Road Kaponga. These worthy settlers, who did their fair share of transforming the waste of bush land into the existing wonderful pastures for which the province is famed, retired into private life at New Plymouth about twelve years ago. Mr-s. Hollard, whose maiden name was Keys, claims -a- record in her own right ta« being the first white child bom in Wellington of parents who were in New Zealand, Their- many friends in Taranaki, Wairarapa- and Wellington will be pleased to- learn that Mr. and Airs. Holl-ard are still hale and hearty.
