TARANAKI ASSOCIATION. MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. A meeting of the executive of the Taranaki Cricket Association was held in New Plymouth last evening when there were present: Messrs. L. JFmrrie (chairman j, S. O'. Jones, O. J. Bottrlll, T. H. Bates, C. Massey, and D. F. C. Saxton (honorary secretary). The notice of motion given at the last meeting that in the f uture annual general meetings of clubs affiliated be held, instead of merely an annual meetin of the executive and that meetings be" held alternately at New Plymouth and Hawera was carried. It was decided, on. the. motion of Mi. Bates, seconded by'Mr. Massey, that in view of the fact that the deficit of C-ll I s 8d on Hawke Cup matches played last season, which was nob shown on the balance sheet of the association, be refunded to the northern division out of any profits made on matches played this season. The handsome silver cup presented by Mr. W. D. Graham for competition between the North and South Taranaki representatives was farm ally handed to the. association. Arrangements were made for the cup to be exhibited in Hawera prior to the match to be played on. December 10, at which the trophy will be competed for. Members spoke in appreciation of Mr. Graham’s public spirited action. Conditions were drawn up, it being decided that the association fix the date of the Graham Cup match for as early in the season as possible, the match be played at New Plymouth and Hawera in alternate years. The cup is to be held by the president of the successful division. Each division will appoint one umpire for each match. A letter was received front i-lie North Taranaki Cricket Umpire’s Association offering to nominate umpires prior to representative matches. —It was decided to thank the association for its offer.
Mr. Bates reported that seven challenges tor the Hawke Gup had been received 'by the New Zealand Council. A report on the business transacted at tho conference held in Christchurch last week was submitted by Mr. Bates.
Correspondence in regaird to the proposed visit of the Auckland touring team to Taranaki was received, the visitors suggesting that matches against provincial representatives and the Taranaki coach be played at both New Plymouth and Hawera. The * South. Taranaki Association wrote agreeing to the suggestion. It was decided to recommend that the Auckland team play at Hawera on December 27 and 28, and at New Plymouth on December 29 and 30. Messrs 11. R. Penny and R. L. Cooper, who were recommended hv the Southern and Northern Divisions respectively. were appointed selectors for the Taranaki team.

In the Hawke 'Cup preliminary today, Hawke's Bay compiled 591 runs in the first innings against Wairoa. Worker (7(1), Elliott (IS), .Shepherd (103), Heaney (105), White (65), Pirie (51), Mitchell, not out (11), and extras 44. Barton with four wickets for 75 runs was the most successful bowler. 'The match is to be concluded to-morrow.
