BUTTER AND CHEESE EXPORTS
TARANAKI’S PREMIER POSITION ALLOCATIONS OF SHIPPING
SPACE
(SPECIAL TO -THE STAR.’) WE.TfL.LN G TON , Nov. 25. Taranaki’s premier position in the New Zealand cheese trade is .revealed by the latest allocation of space for overseas shipments made by the Dairy Produce Control Board. These cover steamers leaving the Dominion between November 10 and December 15. Including the Rotorua, and the Ivia Ora,' which have already left for the United Kingdom, Taranaki claims 76,119 crates of cheese of the 183,963 c-rates which represent the Dominion total for these six weeks, or 41 per rent, of the' whole. In butter, Taranaki ships 48,891 boxes, which is 8 per cent, of the total of 622,295 boxes to be sent to England. Of the Taranaki figures. 40,923 boxes of butter and 30,669 crates of cheese go> to New Plymouth, 7,968 boxes of butter ami 45,450 crates of cheese to Patea. The detailed allotments are as follow, butter being mentioned first and cheese, second in each instance:
The Rotorua took 7000 boxes of butter and 7000 crates of cheese from New Plymouth and 1,728 boxes ol butter and 8,000 crates of cheese from Patea. The Kia Ora stowed 10.113 boxes of butter and 4,669 crates of cheese from New Plymouth and 240 boxes of butter and 500 crates of cheese from Patea. The Port Darwin, Maihia and Turakina load at- New Plymouth, direct and the Port Hardy allocation covers New York and Halifax.
