FERNS MATCH. On the Hawera green yesterday the holders of the Ferns had an easy win from the challengers, the scores being as follow: Herbert, Hodge, Adamson, Hicks (holders) 35; Old, McCormick,'M. Squire, Corkill (challengers) 17. The first game of the season’s club competitions was played, when,- for the singles competition, AI. Squire 27 won from J. Renwick 10. Air Alan Smart was busy all day testing bowls under the Dominion Association ’s' new rule and will continue the work to-day.
