On a majority judgment the Commonwealth Arbitration Court refused an application by the Federated Agricultural Implement and Machinery and Iron Workers’ Association of Australia for a 44-houns week in the agricultural implement making industry, as a reduction of the. working week would injure the industry and weaken it in the face of keen overseas competition.
