ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
AIOTOR CYCLIST KILLED. (BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) PALMERSTON N„ Nov. 21. The 'intersection of Rangitikei and Featherston Streets was the scene of a collision to-night between a car driven by Air Ross, of Wellington, and a motor cyclist named Jack Fleming, aged 17 years, of Palmerston North. The latter was picked up unconscious and sent to hospital with ugly facial cuts and a fractured jaw. He expired before anything could be done for him.
MAN’S BODY FOUND. CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 21. At 9 o’clock this morning Robert William Host, a married man of Merivale, left his home, apparently in good health, but saying that he was unable to cycle to Sockburn, where, he had work to do. At 7.15 o’clock to-night a neighbour of Best’s, was walking in a little wooded grove adjoining Best’s residence, when he found his neighbour’s body lyin'-’’ under the trees with ln.s throat cut. " The man had been dead for some hours, and it was apparent that a razor had been used, but it could not be found to-night n.s the light was failingWALKED INTO MOVING TR AM. DUNEDIN. Nov. 22. Yesterday afternoon Simpson Dunn, aged 65, walked into the side £>f a moving tram in Customhouse Square, sustaining serious injuries. He was removed to the hospital, whore he lies in a critical condition. LEVEL CROSSING FATALITY. PUKEIvOHE, Nov. 22. The Auckland-Thames express ran into a furniture-laden motor lorry at Buekland level crossing at 10.5< o’clock this morning, and resulted in William Austin Braithwaite, residing near Manurewa, being killed. His son, Leslie James Braithwaite, the driver of the vehicle was slightly injured, and a man named Scott. who was shifting to Hcirri.sville, where lie had acquired a farm, was seriously injured, necessitating his admittance to hospital. The lorry was badly smashed. METHYLATED SPIRITS EXPLODE. WELLINGTON, Nov. 22. The explosion of a tin of methylated spirits, near which they were working with a lama, resulted in George Jessen. aged *25, and Charles Stanton, ao-ed 25, being badly burned at the Co-op. Dairy Producers’ Freezing Company's building. Jessen was severely injured about the head. arms, body and legs, and his condition is serious. It is understood he was to be married to-night. Stanton was injured on the arms and head, but not- seriously.
