PERSONAL ITEMS.
Prior to the commencement of the Supreme Court business at Dunedin, reference was made to the death of Mr. Justice Alpers bv the president or the Law Society, who said that the late judge was a cultured gentleman, charming and delightful and highly esteemed. Mr. Justice Sim said the Bench had suffered a serious loss. In his brief judicial career Mr. Alpers had gained the respect and affection of all his colleagues on the Bench. — Press Association. Members of the legal profession gathered at the Supreme Court _ at Christchurch, this morning, and paid a heartfelt tribute to the memory of the late Mr. Justice Alpers. Mr. Justice Adams said: “I was impressed with his charming personality, his great ability and wonderful versatility. He was a man of great industry.”—Press Association. At the opening of the Supreme Court at New Plymouth this morning. Mr Justice Ostler presiding. Seeling reference wn.s made bv the Bench and also the Bar to the death of Mr Justice Alters, also to the loss the local Bar had sustained by the death of Mr F. H. Wilson, to whom Mr Justice "i' Ostler r>ai:d a generous tribute. Press Association.
