AUCKLAND SCHOOL SPORTS. FINE PERFORMANCE BY HAWERA BOY. At the annual sports of the Sacred Heart College in Auckland last week, the senior athletic championship was won by George Meyrick, of Hawera, a former pupil of the Hawera Convent School. There were, eievcn events counting for the championship, and of this total lie got first in 100 and 220 yards, second in 50 yards, 440 yards, BSO yards, 120 yards hurdles, third in broad jump and road race, and second (a tic) for high jump, in addition to six points for football and three for cricket. The wide extent of the competition will thus bo realised. His total of points was 35, the next securing 29. In those events Meyrick put up several good times —100 yards in 10 4-ssec., 220 yards in 26sec. He also made a new record for the hop, step and jump—39ft 4iin. (previous best 37ft llin.). It was altogether a very good performance.
