The waterside workers’ overtime strike started from live o’clock to-day at all ports in Australia, excepting Queensland. Mr. Seale, secretary ot the \\ aterside Workers’ Federation, says action will be taken against all vessels, both inter-State and overseas. Both sides will suffer severely, the watersiders no longer receiving their overtime pay, which was 4s 3d per hour, against 2s lid in ordinary hours, and tlie shipowners through the delay occasioned by the stoppage of overtime work where the handling of important caicroes Is involved . The strike is likely to have a specially serious effect upon loading and getting wool ships away.
