A London message reporting the death of the Earl of Cart heart, states that the countess, who was lying critically ill, had a relapse on hearing of her husband’s death.
Tho Kev. H. Lindsay, M.A., vicar of Inglewood, has been appointed to the staff of the Collegiate School, Wanganui, and will take up his duties at the commencement of the next term.
Among the list of Territorial cadets selected for training as pilots far the New Zealand Air Service appears the name of J. M. Buckeridge, son of Mr. G. H. Buckeridge, of Hawera. He is at present attending Canterbury College.
At yesterday’s meeting of the Taranaki Electric Power Board, held at Eltham, the following motion was carried: “That this board expresses regret, at the lamentable death of Mr F. E. Wilson, of New Plymouth, and extends its sympathy to the widow and children in their irreparable Iqss.” Mr. E. C. Wood, the grader in charge of the Patea grading stores for the past sixteen years, has received notice of transfer to Auckland to take up a similar position in succession to Mr. A. H Thornton, who has recently retired through ill health. Mr. Wood expects to take up his new duties in a few days. IMF W. Grant, who lias been dairy instructor for South Taranaki for a lengthy period, succeeds Mr. Wood at Patea.
