PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS.
CHOICE OF CANDIDATES
A NEWSPAPER POLL. BY CABLE-PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. Received 10.40 a.m. to-day. WASHINGTON, Nov. 19. Interest has been attracted in political circles by a poll of newspaper editors and political leaders throughout the country conducted by a political magazine which forecast the nomination of Mr. Smith (Democratic) as the Presidential candidate, and Mr. Hoover (Republican). It was presumed that Mr. Coolidge would not be an aspirant. Mr. Smith received many times more votes than any other, Senator Reed being second. Mr. Hoover, however, maintained only a small lead over ex-Govemor Lowde, of Illinois, as the Republican choice.
