Nov. 18Referring to the proposal of the Sydney City Council to take a. referendum of the people on its proposed abolition the Hon. T. R. Bavin stated the sug gestion was quite impossible, as the Bi i before Parliament proposed the abolition of the council, and the new order would be ushered in with the passage of tlie Bill.
(Mr Bavin added that be had obtained a mandate from the people to abolish the council and the wishes of the, people would be given effect to.
